Dear Faith Leader
Did you hear about how the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is ensuring religious liberty is upheld across the country? This week, the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, announced new guidance when engaging with the USDA.
Why is this new USDA guidance so important?
Under a previous Administration’s leadership, religious liberty was at threat. For example, during an inspection of a meat plant, former USDA leadership threatened to close the plant down due to discovering faith-based material in the break room used by employees.
This USDA guidance focuses on protecting faith AND religious expression, including accommodation rights in the federal workplace. As Secretary Rollins notes, “From the very beginning, America has recognized the freedom of religion as the bedrock principle of our Republic.”
We recognize that actions taken in federal workplaces regarding religious liberty have a ripple effect across the nation. Therefore, we applaud the leadership of the USDA to issue guidance that demonstrates the agency’s commitment to religious expression and liberty.
