Dear Faith Leader
November 7th is a day that could mark the trajectory of our nation as it is the date the Supreme Court will discuss and determine the outcome of Kim Davis’ petition.
Why is Kim Davis’ petition important for people of faith and for our nation?
Here’s the background:
Kim Davis was requested to issue out a marriage license to two men. The former county clerk from Kentucky temporarily ceased issuing any marriage licenses so as not to discriminate against anyone while she sought accommodation for her religious beliefs. As a result, she was sued by the two men, jailed for six days and fined for $360,000.
Kim Davis’ Petition:
Davis is requesting the Supreme Court to review her case and one of the questions that is being presented by her attorneys from Liberty Counsel is whether the Obergefell v. Hodges 5-4 Supreme Court decision (the one that required states to recognize same sex marriage) was wrongly decided and should be overturned.
We invite you to pray for:
- Wisdom for the Supreme Court justices as they discuss and vote upon this important petition and whether to accept this case.
- Liberty Counsel, Kim Davis and all that are involved with this petition and case.
Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us, ” ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD.”
